Beach Front Half Marathon
Overview of the track
Starting at Henley Beach square there is plenty of parking nearby. If you can’t get a parking spot, try the backstreets and the esplanade just north of the square. If you’re wanting to run with a friend, it’s a good place to meet up.
Head south along the footpath out the square towards the southern carpark and it will turn into the shared track. The entire track from here is off road and has a few crossings along the way. Cross over the Torrens river, through West Beach and through to Glenelg. Keep going south and you’ll eventually hit Brighton. Now turn around, you’re half way, and head back. By the time you hit Brighton jetty, you should be at about the 11.5km-12km mark. Depending on the weather you’re going to have a head wind on the way to Brighton and a tail wind on the way back.
What I like about this track
There is good accessibility to Henley beach with regards to parking and meeting. There are plenty of water stops along the way so you won’t need to carry water with you. There are public toilets at Henley beach, Glenelg and at Brighton. In the evening the sun sets over the ocean so you’ll get a nice skyshow. The terrain is sealed the whole way with bitumen, pavers or concrete and is flat so you won’t get much elevation challenges.
